Most people meet me now because of AI. Fair enough. That is the part of my work changing fastest.
But I got here the long way: a notebook, a camera, the AP Stylebook, public-affairs work, leadership I was not always sure I was ready for, and more than a few moments when the right words mattered more than I wanted them to.
I did not set out to build a career that crossed this many categories. I was trying to do the work in front of me well. Take the picture. Ask the better question. Fix the website. Help the team through the hard thing. Learn the new tool before telling anyone else what to do with it.
Somewhere along the way, the categories stopped being very useful.

The camera and the interview both punish assumptions. Look again. Listen longer. Let reality correct the neat version in your head.

Clarity only counts when another person can do something with it. A beautiful explanation that leaves people stuck is still a miss.

Tools should leave people with more agency, not less. Speed matters. Judgment, dignity, and trust matter more.

Every step kept handing me a version of the same problem: someone was overwhelmed by something complicated, and I wanted to help them find their footing without making them feel small.
That is still the work.
Today I help teams move from “AI is interesting” to “this helps real work without giving away our judgment.” The work sits where technology, communication, ethics, training, and organizational reality all have to meet.
